One day in the archives, my assistant and I came across a letter.
It was from a man in Germany, sent to ... the Court? The city of Szolnok? The investigators? Who, exactly, he was hoping to get an answer from is unclear.
The date is also not known, but quite possibly it was sent at the time of the trials, when Maria's name was all over the international newspapers.
The sender's name was Rudolf Kardos, and he wanted to know if he was related to Maria, or more to the point, her husband/victim, Michael.
